Chinese New Year 2015 is the most popular Chinese festival celebrated throughout the world. Here’s a readymade pack for an Assembly to celebrate the occasion. It tells the traditional story of how the years got their animal names. The pack consists of 12 colourful tabards with attractive 3D animal faces, an emperor’s grand outfit and a 3m long ‘river’ fabric. In addition there are laminated sheets with two versions of the story, a Chinese calendar to show the years and characteristics for each animal and additional information about the celebrations all put together in a strong red sack. The outfits are suitable for ages 4-8 years old. This is a worthwhile resource that can be used throughout the year for a number of associated activities linked to specific areas of the curriculum.
